Goals Accomplished

This year I set some lofty goals for myself, ones that I wasn’t sure if I would be able to even consider doing. I turned off social media, deleted games from my phone, and made a goal that if I had down time I would write on my phone. Hello sore thumbs!

And then my consistency paid off. I finished a manuscript that had been in the writing process for over two years.

I drafted, re drafted, and completed a book proposal which I submitted to a publishing company. (Haven’t heard anything but hey, if its a no at least I got valuable skills learning how to describe and share my book!)

And I started writing a new book – and finished it – in seventy days. That’s right. Seventy.

I had an idea and started writing on March 29th and finished it on June 7th. And now I’m on book two.

It takes a lot of discipline for me to write this much. It takes sacrifice from down time and relaxing when I’m tired.

It keeps me from marketing myself on social media – which seems to be the best way to reach readers, unfortunately, so gaining new audiences has taken a massive hit.

But that’s ok. Because for the first time in many years, I’m enjoying writing again. I’m crafting worlds. Developing magic systems. Birthing characters who are real and flawed and FEEL the world around them. To me, it doesn’t matter if I have millions of readers and a huge social media following – because I am writing for one.

The One. The One who made me, who gave me this gift, and who has whispered in my darkest seasons – keep going, because someone needs to read what you’ve written. And if my books reach just one person – one – who drew closer to God because of what I wrote… then it’s all been worth it.
